Our story
Dormie.
The unbeatable position.
In golf, dormie means your position cannot be beaten. We borrowed the term because it describes exactly what we offer: the perfect position for a golf holiday — already won, nothing left to chance.
What we believe
Golf travel shouldn't feel like guesswork.
The best golf holidays are made by people who know exactly what they're talking about. Who have stood on the 18th at Quinta do Lago at sunset and can tell you which side of the fairway to miss on. Who know that Monte Rei is worth the drive from Faro, and that the Ritz-Carlton at Abama is the only reason to stay on the west coast of Tenerife.
That's what Dormie is. No call centres. No algorithmic recommendations. No hidden surcharges discovered at checkout. Just specialists who have been there, and can get you there properly.
We serve a discerning clientele who expect the best — and we deliver it, at a price that's stated upfront. Flights, transfers, accommodation and golf in one package, one quote, one contact.
Personal specialist
You'll deal with one person — someone who knows your game, your standards, and your idea of the perfect trip. Reachable by phone, email, or WhatsApp.
Flights always included
We build complete packages. Hotel, golf, transfers, and flights — one price, one contact. No assembly required.
No price surprises
The price we quote is the price you pay. We don't do hidden fees, surcharges, or "please call for availability." Transparent pricing at every stage.
Personally vetted
We have played every course and stayed every hotel we recommend. Our curation is first-hand, not aggregated.
Meet the specialist
James Kinloch
Golf Travel Specialist
"The first time I walked onto Augusta as a guest caddie, I cried. And the second time I was on the 12th green at Amen Corner, I thought: I need to get other people here. Not here exactly — but somewhere that makes them feel this way."
James Kinloch spent fourteen years as a caddie on the European Tour — the blue-and-white bib, the heavy bag, the 6am tee times in Belek, the champagne finishes at Valderrama. In that time he caddied for six Major champions, walked inside the ropes at Augusta twice as a guest caddie, and developed an encyclopaedic knowledge of the world's golf courses that no ATOL-bonded brochure can replicate.
When the Tour life ended, he moved to the other side of the velvet rope. He knew every course manager, every head pro, every sommelier in the properties they stayed at. In 2012 he founded the precursor to Dormie. The phone rang within a week.
Meet JamesThe founding story
Started in 2009.
Built one trip at a time.
James Kinloch spent six years as a European Tour caddie before deciding that his real talent wasn't reading greens — it was knowing exactly which courses, which hotels, and which transfers made a golf trip genuinely extraordinary rather than merely adequate.
In 2009 he started booking trips. Not as an agency. Not with a brochure. Just with a phone and a detailed personal knowledge of the places he'd spent six years standing on. The first clients were other caddies and their families. Then Tour pros. Then the pro-am circuit. Then word spread.
By 2013 he'd arranged over 300 holidays. By 2017 he'd played courses in 35 countries and taken clients to 41. The model never changed: one specialist, fully responsible, reachable by phone, who had personally stood on every fairway he recommended.
The Dormie name came in 2022 — from the golf term for an unbeatable position. It felt accurate. By then James had built something that couldn't be replicated by a call centre or an algorithm: a reputation built purely on the quality of the trips he'd sent people on.
Timeline
James books his first golf trips, working from a list of contacts built during six years on the European Tour.
First South Africa circuit. Leopard Creek, Fancourt, and the Garden Route become signature itineraries.
300th holiday arranged. Japan added — the first Dormie group plays Hirono Golf Club and Kawana Hotels Golf Course.
East Africa circuit launches. Nairobi + Zanzibar becomes the most-requested itinerary in the portfolio.
Vietnam and Thailand added. Da Nang emerges as one of the most under-the-radar golf destinations in Asia.
Gulf + Indian Ocean circuit: Dubai → Oman → Mauritius. Twelve groups in the first year.
Global travel stops. The team uses the year to recce South Korea, update every itinerary, and build the Find My Trip engine.
Japan reopens. Best year in company history. The Dormie name formally adopted.
2,400+ holidays arranged. 41 countries. 623 courses played personally. Still one specialist per client.
