Bangor Golf Club lies behind the city overlooking Belfast Lough, the Antrim Hills and even the coast of Scotland on a clear day. The 18 hole parkland layout was designed by James Braid and although it has been modified it still retains many of its original features. It's a good holiday challenge in scenic surroundings. Until recently Michael Bannon was the professional here. He is now coach to Rory McIlroy. The course has attracted some major tournaments over the years including the Ulster and the Irish Professional Championships. Ex-Ryder Cup and now turned NBC Golf America personality David Feherty is a member here, as it the golf course architect David Jones.
