Saint Gatien Golf Club, Deauville

Saint Gatien Golf Club near Deauville, Normandy, is maturing into a pleasant golf 27-hole course. Originally laid out in 1988 the three nines spread over 100 hectares, criss-crossing a valley and woodland. The course is hilly in parts and features relatively small greens and a length of up to 6800 yards and par 72. The fairways are quite generous so you can open your shoulders but the yellow nine, La Chapelle, is specifically designed to focus on short game strategy. The very pretty clubhouse dates from the 18th century and is home to a good restaurant and friendly bar. Well located between Deauville and Honfleur, Saint Gatien is ideal for a day out with dinner in Honfleur afterwards.
