Gujan Mestras Golf Club is in a lovely site in Bordeaux but far away from any sizeable towns. Luckily it's not too far if you're staying in the ever-improving seaside and marina resort of Arcachon. Designed by Alain Prat – A French disciple of the American way of golf course design - Gujan Mestras is probably his best course and measures 6900 yards off the back tees with a par of 72. It's easy walking and very visual. The course starts gently and then it hits you with a couple of hard holes, eases off, then comes in again. But, like all good courses, most of the hazards are there to tease you psychologically...you'll enjoy this course a lot.
