Yvelines Golf Club is ideal when you’re staying in Versailles. It’s an enjoyable way of escaping to the countryside for a nice round of parkland golf at about half the price of the more famous courses closer to the capital. The 17th-century chateau clubhouse sets the tone for what is a grand woodland setting. The fairways are wide but you need to pay attention to the placing of the drive rather than the distance as it’s quite a strategic course with plenty of dog-legs.
