Ba Na Hills Golf Club

Ba Na Hills sits at 1,400 metres on the Truong Son mountain range, and the cloud that rolls through mid-round is not a weather inconvenience — it's part of the experience. I've played this course in clear sunshine, in mist so thick the ball disappeared from sight within fifty yards, and in every condition between. The course functions beautifully in all of them.
Luke Donald's design uses the mountain terrain intelligently: each hole is clearly different from the last, the elevation changes are dramatic without being gimmicky, and the par-3 eighth — 185 yards from a clifftop tee to a green ringed by jungle — has produced more smartphone photographs than any other hole I've stood on in Asia.
At around £90 per person including cart, it's extraordinary value for a course that would cost twice that in Portugal. The combination of price, quality, and setting makes Da Nang one of the most compelling golf destinations in the world for UK clients willing to fly seventeen hours.
Signature hole
Par-3 8th, 185 yards, clifftop tee
"The tee hangs over a jungle valley. The green is on the opposite cliff edge. Wind comes from multiple directions simultaneously. The cloud rolls in as you address the ball. Concentrate."
