Carya Golf Club is ranked in the world's top 100 courses, and most people who play golf have never heard of it. That gap between quality and fame is the most striking thing about Belek as a destination, and Carya is its clearest illustration.
Kyle Phillips' design plays through mature pine forest with fairways that are both generous and strategic — wide enough to reward aggressive play, but with rough and tree lines that make positional mistakes genuinely costly. The greens are among the fastest I've played in Europe, which changes the entire approach game.
At approximately £120 per round, it's outstanding value for a course of this calibre. The contrast with what the same fee gets you in Portugal or Scotland is significant. Turkey's golf infrastructure is exceptional and underutilised by UK clients who default to the Algarve by habit.
Signature hole
Par-4 12th, 428 yards through pines
"The fairway narrows between enormous umbrella pines to an approach that requires a precise number. The green falls away on three sides. I've never seen anyone make birdie here without getting slightly lucky with the pin position."
