Overview

The rice terrace hole. The Indian Ocean backdrop. The temple on the 7th.

Nirwana Bali Golf Club's 7th hole — a par-3 from a clifftop tee over a Hindu sea temple to a green perched above the Indian Ocean — is one of the most photographed in Asia for good reason. The rest of the course and the island more than live up to it.

Who this is for

The best golf trip to take with someone who doesn't play golf. Bali works for everyone — the courses are genuinely excellent, the cultural programme is extraordinary, and the non-golfer will have no complaints. Probably the easiest trip to sell to a reluctant partner.

April to October is the dry season — reliable golf weather, 27–32°C. November to March brings the wet season: afternoon downpours are near-daily but courses usually reopen within an hour. Nirwana and New Kuta are best played in the dry season when views are clearest.
